It doesn't have anything to do with with music, but I certainly find this an interesting link. I couldn't help noticing the Germanic influence, due to the Vicking invasions I suppose ... I'm not familiar with English dialects but last week I went pick-nicking with some British clients of my husband. The man was from ... Birmingham (and his schoolmate's cousin had lived next door to JT) and his wife was from somewhere in Cumbria - Lake District. So I noticed how differently they were talking. She had this specific way of pronouncing 'year' that I liked.
